Work

Ceramic

Working across printmaking and ceramics, I create forms that hybridize image and object by way of screenprinted tile; entangling binaries of myth and fact, the self and other, and built versus natural. Guided by pattern and color while embracing material experimentation, my most recent work examines surface as a site of self-protection.

Using a ceramic screenprint slip transfer process, I apply digitally-drawn patterns inspired by ancient apotropaic symbols and contemporary camouflage to slab-built forms that evoke shields and fortifications. Glitching spirals, fragmented gradients and pixelated after-images create a tenuous spectre of stability in a present haunted by imperialism and looming climate catastrophe.
