A Running Spiral
These works spring from the gorgoneion, or Medusa-head motif. From the gorgoneion emerges the three-pathed spiral, or triskelion. When repeated, the running spiral sequences into a meander of continuous swirls and can be used to denote the sea or sky. It is a system flowing both into and out of itself. I apply this pattern and its iterations through prints on paper and in handmade screenprinted ceramic terrazzo tiles to process tensions of ongoing climate collapse and cycles of violence, to question expressions of power and measures of protection; and to confront the possibilities, or limitations, of vision.
